Characteristics and Condition of Nagoya Obi | Used and Recycled Nagoya Obi
This Nagoya obi, still with its basting stitches, is recommended for casual occasions.
It's a Kyoto-style Bingata obi, resist-dyed with colorful patterns on a creamy white (milky white) background (refer to "Teihon Wa no Iro Jiten").
Within deep navy diamond shapes, very colorful bird and flower-like designs are resist-dyed.
The tare-saki (trailing end) is deep navy. The otaiko pattern stands out beautifully.
The pattern extends fully across the obi (zenttsu), and it is tailored in the Nagoya style.
Although it is made of chirimen fabric, a relatively firm obi core is used.
Enjoy coordinating it with kimonos such as iromuji, komon, and tsumugi.
There are some wrinkles near the tesaki (hand-held end) and the naka-muji (plain middle section), and a very small stain on the white fabric of the taiko-ura (back of the taiko knot).
Otherwise, it is in very good overall condition and is perfectly wearable as a recycled item.
The overall photo shows the closest representation of the colors, but they may vary slightly depending on your device.
